UPCOMING EVENT

On December 1, 2022, in partnership with Cook County Department of Public Health, Sertoma Centre, Inc., South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, Prairie State College (PSC), and Cook County Commissioner Office, we will host an in-person fact-finding program that will include a keynote speaker and panelists with solutions to current health challenges among our youth.

This Social Health Awareness and Prevention Seminar is targeted to juniors and seniors and designed to foster greater understanding about the public health challenges they face.
  • Opportunities for students to engage in developing positive ways to resolve the problem of HIV/AIDS and STIs in this community.
  • Increased student and parent knowledge about communicable diseases, and its effect on our youth.
  • The fulfillment of ISB Suicide Prevention Requirement
  • Expanded opportunities for civic engagement by our youth.
  • Awarded community service hours for participation and volunteering.
Our program will include:
  • Dynamic speakers who brings a unique message on this challenge to our youth.
  • A forum that encourages participation on important and relevant health challenge topics.
  • Resources about free testing from the Cook County Department of Public Health
  • Distribution of literature about Prevention, [i.e., healthy living, and making better choices]. In addition, we believe self- sufficiency can be accomplished by empowering our youth with knowledge and creating opportunities for them to impact their community.

Thank you in advance, and we look forward to seeing you!

    Sincerely,
National Council of African Women, Illinois Branch
